Traveling without moving. Blue cosmic nebula storm. White dog heart. A special blend of all original music (and altered cover beasts), comedy, social and political commentary, and absurd nonsense to remind you/me/us of the objective truth constantly unfolding behind the scenes. Occasional trips into the spiritual realm of our shared musical experience. https://soundcloud.com/jason-lindsay-buffalo/wkjlbccjed1pirateradioincoopercreeke

WORDS from the DRIFTER'S EDGE:
When the world gives you lemons you make lemonade right? Well when the world gives you ABSURDITY in VAST and seemingly endless quantities, you might be a redneck – uhhh, wait, sorry, I mean you MIGHT get one last COOPER CREEK pirate radio show – from out on the fringe, at the edge of the world, where everything is happening, all the time, same as it ever was!!! Wanna hear something amazing? And by amazing, I mean AMAZINGLY WEIRD?!!!
Well what could be more weird than Covid or the Google and FB algorithms programming all of humanity to normalize extremist+sensationalist perspectives (among other things)?!! Well nothing really, but this is FUN, utterly lacking in greed, hypocrisy, or douchebaggery, motivated by nothing but the will to unbridled creativity. There's a distinct stench of fishybunk on damn near everything out there now, so why not put all that aside (in the compost/shitpost bin perhaps) and give'r a GO at the 'ol 'RADIO SHOW'!! You have nothing to lose but your sanity, and if you've still got that, well, you have my sympathies..... We have the CURE!! Press play down there and LET'RRIP!! ^^
What follows is a partial playlist for those not mentally equipped to handle the full 3-hour show – which, I assure you, is a strange and wonderful ride if you can hang on and grip the handrails with care not to go too far off into the 'terra incognito' of absolute elsewhere. This is the third and final volume of a year long musical experiment with up-the-lake musicians and guests from Kaslo including the lovely and talented Rebekka, rhythmic percussion giant Gerald, and a number of bears that came and went during the summertime. Due to the extreme levels of chaos involved, there was a slight (4 month!!) delay in releasing the material after minimal post-production mixing to make it a little easier on the ears, but this volume includes some of the best original improvised recordings of the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2020 (which explains why it went long at about 3 hours, mixed down from 20 hours of total recorded material). There's a lengthy break taking place at the moment, but there mayyy be more happening here with upgraded mics and audio quality in future. Everything's a work in progress out in bush country, and the gardens and orchards are calling!! Get out there and BREATHE IN THE AIR!!! Peace and Love to all of you, thanks for tuning in. If you enjoy the listen feel free to donate Covid, Algorithm, Fear, and Hate-free hugs to all the players at your discretion – and if I ever monetize the podcast, send us a few mil, and we'll work all kinds of miracles and giggle the days and nights away forevermore.....AMEN.... (Money's not real, remember? It's all in your HEAD, in the Collective HEAD, a really, really good HEAD, HAHHAAHHHAAAAA!!!) YES. Good DAY.
00:00:00 - COOPER CREEKER COMEDY INTRO
(Accompanied by a guitar+drum instrumental tribute to Talvin Singh's 'Spiritual Masterkey')
26:30 - STAN BY ME – I WILL STAN!! I will stand by you man, through thick and thin!!
37:00 - HUCKLEBERRY SAGEBRUSH – Please forgive the audio quality, but this was a unique Kootenay original recording made while under siege in a trailer on the pig farm on McGlauchlin rd. on a dark and stormy night, with a MASSIVE black bear marauding the perimeter, requiring regular breaks between songs to fire off a few shotgun blasts to defend the chickens (&ourselves!!), tin roof on the coop banging and hammering in the wind, hounds howling, high velocity spats of rain occasionally drifting in, 2 full sheets of 'edibles' recently baked, and mead flowing freely.....truly, a wild, WILD night......
48:15 – THE BATTLE OF FINGOLFIN AND MORGOTH – BARAHIR in EXILE. A favorite tale from Tolkein's 'The Silmarillion', in which the greatest of the elven kings of aulde battles the Ainur God Morgoth before the gates of his underground stronghold Angband in the 2nd age of Middle-Earth.
1:11 – COOPER CREEKER STREAKER – In which a naked man running all over the place makes a complete fool of himself, much to the amusement and confoundment of all (including himself)^^
1:34 – DAO KISSES AND YOU AIN'T GOIN' NOWHERE (REGGAE MONKEY VERSION)
Dao (our beloved black girl canine mascot) was stinky that day, and a monkey got in on the jam.
1:44 – SO I JUMPED IN THE RIVER
It's impossible to express the joy of spending so much time in the river last summer, but I did my best to capture the feeling in this very brief song about letting go of stress and worry and just jumping in the river.
JUST GET OUT THERE AND DO IT!!
1:45 – SUMMERTIME
Melodic tribute to the original Ella Fitzgerald – one of the best songs about summer ever written.
1:54:40 – BANANA BOAT SONG – We all floated up towards the ceiling while recording this, dancing. There were strange dark creatures cavorting all around.
It was a wonderful terrifying hideous ludicrous ecstasy.
2:12 – BARRETT'S PRIVATEERS – Bloody pirates.
2:14:40 – I LOVE ROCK 'N ROLL- 'Coz Joan Jett ROCKS. Thanks for coming Bekka. We love you.
2:22 – BREATHE – Played at 'Duff tempo', I actually ended up really enjoying it, finally^^
2:27 – RIGHT ABOUT MEOW – An original tribute to cats everywhere. Chairman Meow presiding.
2:29 – DOWN UNDER – Oh, Aussie, will I ever see thee again?
2:35 – STEP BY STEP – A Duff original, and his voice really rings true in this one, it's a beauty.
2:41:40 – DEEP LEDGE DIVER (ROCKIN' AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE)
Totally unrehearsed improvisational genius of Eyn Lang with myself providing amused encouragement, backup vocals, and rhythm guitar. At the bottom of the lake.
PIZZA BEAR AND THE HARD ROCK OUTRO^^
We did have a lot of black bears and a few grizzlies around last summer, and close sightings if not 'encounters' were not uncommon. The version of 'Summertime' here and the subsequent jam were recorded immediately after Duff and I had a close call with a young (3 year old) grizz on the way back from the river last August. It was a beautiful beastie and took off running when it saw us 2 duders walking together and I started singing a grizzy song about a guy on a buffalo while Duff chucked a stick at it – at about 100' distance. Close enough for a good look and about as close as you ever want to get to a grizzly bear if you have any sense about you. Songs from the Canadian outback indeed......
Take off eh? Cheers!!!
*As a general rule, if it's an electric guitar or harmonica playing, it's J-Buff ('J-Balls', J-Bone, Captain Chaos, Captain Crayon, 'Pirate/Hippy-J', or 'Jason Lindsay Buffalo Bowles' if you're not into the whole brevity thing) - with Gerald playing guest metal riffs on the Tolkien track and beauty chords on 'Streaker', and Duff coming in with his new Fender Princeton Chorus amp on tracks after 'Breathe'. All acoustic guitars are the Duff-man. The recordings are basically in chronological order. Eyn and Gerald trade off on drum tracks throughout with 'G' ripping a pretty awesome one in 'Barahir'. The comedic and meditative intro track is all J-Buff – no 'agenda' or 'intent' here but an honest laugh – and - I always loved the drums and harmonies of Talvin Singh and while I wasn't setting out to copy his work at all, I did have him in mind while recording this. Monkey sounds by J-Buff on the homemade cuica, and all squeaky toy sounds may be attributed to Deep Ledge Deep Sea Diver Eyn Lang!!
*All finger tapping in this production dedicated to Eddie Van Halen, with thanks for the inspiration.
Press play below when you're ready with a fresh tasty bevvy, maybe someone to hold onto for moral support, a comfy chair/bed/sofa/chesterfield/dog/tonton to lay your head on, a solid smash of CBD ((*No THC!!), YEARHIGHT, like there's one without the other), a few deep breaths to steady the nerves, maybe an hour of yoga (if that's your thing) and pray to whatever God/Goddess you believe in that you remembered to turn the gas off. You did remember to turn the gas off, right? No BOOMBOOM? BOOMBOOM IS HERE!! Enjoy.
